Jewish History of Lodz Poland and Genealogical Research

A leader in the Lodz genealogical research community, Roni Liebowitz will review sources and techniques for learning more about families from Poland’s second largest city and from the 80 other Jewish communities that once existed in its vicinity. A board member of JRI-Poland, Roni is JRI’s Archive Coordinator for Lodz, co-founder and coordinator of LARG (the Lodz Area Research Group), and coordinator of JewishGen’s KehilaLinks page for Lodz. She is also active in efforts to remember the Jewish communities of Belchatow and Piotrkow Trybunalski, Poland, and Paterson, NJ. Roni was a consultant for Angel of Ahlem, a documentary about a World War II liberator, and she currently serves as the president of JGS Inc. (NY).
