National Archives at New York City: Temporary Hours of Operation and Research Services

Some of the research service offered by the National Archives at New York City will need to be curtailed during the transition of moving our records and staff offices to the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Customs House.
Appointments to view records from offsite storage will be suspended starting September 17th, 2012.  Researchers can still recieve a limited amount of copies (up to 75 pages) if their request is for specific documents.  The National Archives at New York City will begin taking new requests for these records once reopened at the Custom House.  
The research rooms will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9am to 5pm until October 4th, 2012.
Following October 4th, in cases where records are needed to prove rights or benefits, please call (347) 931- 8031 and leave a message explaining your situation.  An archivist will return your call by the end of the business day.
Reference inquiries received via email, fax, and telephone will not be accepted after October 4th, 2012.  These services will resume once the National Archives at New York City reopens to the public.  The anticipated re-opening date at the new location is in early November, 2012.
