Same Name, Must Be Same Person: Is That Really Your Ancestor? with the German Genealogy Group

The German Genealogy Group will hold its next monthly meeting on Thursday, June 6th.  The program this month will be, "Same Name, Must Be Same Person: Is That Really Your Ancestor?" with presenter Christine Crawford-Oppenheimer.

Name problems can hinder research. An unprepared family historian can waste valuable time tracking a supposed ancestor who isn't really part of the family. Learn how to determine unique identifiers so you can recognize ancestors no matter what name they used and differentiate them from other same-named individuals. Ms. Crawford-Oppenheimer, MLS, has a master's degree in library science and a graduate certificate in archives. Her training is useful to her in developing talks about research for genealogists.

An Orientation session for beginners and newcomers will be held at 7 PM and the regular meeting will start at 7:30. GGG members and guests will have access to the building beginning at 6:30 PM. Among the many benefits of membership are a newsletter published ten times a year, a database of surnames, a free translation service, a book and CD lending library, interesting guest speakers at the meetings, mentoring, a start-up kit of helpful information and much more. We welcome all who are interested in researching their Germanic origins. There is no fee for guests and all are welcome.
