The German Genealogy Group will hold its next monthly meeting on Thursday, October 6th at:

Hicksville VFW Fall - Post 3211
320 South Broadway (Route 107)
Hicksville, NY 11801

The meeting this month will feature "Ellis Island During the Second World War" with a discussion of immigrants, Spies, Enemy Aliens, and the FBI. Barry Moreno of the Ellis Island Immigration Museum, where he pursues his interests in cultural history, literature, and foreign languages as well as the fascinating immigrant world of Ellis Island, will be back for this presentation. He is also the author of several books, including The Statue of Liberty, Italian Americans, Children of Ellis Island, Manhattan Street Scenes, Ellis Island's Famous Immigrants, and The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Ellis Island.

An orientation session for beginners and newcomers will be held at 7:00 pm and the regular meeting will start at 7:30. GGG members and guests will have access to the building beginning at 6:30 pm. Among the many benefits of GGG membership are a newsletter published ten times a year, a database of surnames, a free translation service, a book and CD lending library, interesting guest speakers at the meetings, mentoring, a start-up kit of helpful information, and much more.

We welcome all who are interested in researching their Germanic origins. There is no fee for guests and all are welcome. Visit our website and while there, be sure to visit our free, searchable Church, Yearbook, Vital Records, and Naturalization databases.
