Index to Children Baptized in the New York Dutch Church

The baptismal register of the Reformed Dutch Church of New Amsterdam and New York is one of the city’s richest genealogical resources, especially for the early colonial period.  In 1901-1902 The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society published a transcript of this register, from 1639-1800, in two volumes which form Volumes 2 and 3 of its series of published Collections.  The indexes included in these volumes cover fathers, mothers, and witnesses, but not the names of the children (or adults) who were being baptized.

This index was compiled by Harry Macy, Jr. in 1996 to remedy that omission, for the initial period from 1639 throughout the second Dutch administration in 1675.
