Featured Repositories for New York Genealogy
Since 2006, The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society has been publishing a series of guides to notable New York State repositories in the New York Researcher. We have compiled all of these articles and listed each repository covered in this guide.
Each article is written by a librarian, archivist or another expert who knows the repository well. These articles will help you decide if a research trip is worthwhile, and will be essential to formulating your research plan if you decide to visit any of these repositories.

NYG&B and OGS Announce Partnership
We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with the Ontario Genealogical Society (OGS), offering reciprocal membership at a discount to all members. We hope that this will allow members of both societies to gain access to even more records and resources.
The OGS, the largest such organization in Canada, was founded in 1961 with the vision of being recognized as the authority and leader in all aspects of Ontario related family history research, preservation, and communication. Click the button below to read the full release.
Grow your Family Tree with the NYG&B

We're the second oldest genealogical society in the country, and our mission is to help you navigate the difficult research-landscape of New York State and to tell the stories of New Yorkers everywhere.
As a member of the NYG&B, you will have access to all of the tools to make huge leaps in your research. Our eLibrary contains information on millions of New Yorkers from all over the Empire State. Search our archive of every issue of The Record - published quarterly since 1870 - or search our many other collections, which include religious records, colonial records, cemetery records and more.
In total, we have over 40 different digital record sets in the eLibrary, covering a wide range of record types and locations from all over New York State.
From our Store: German Churches of Metropolitan NY
This pioneering work should be of immense value to anyone researching New York families of German origin. Dr. Richard Haberstroh has identified over 400 Protestant and Catholic churches which have served the German communities in the present five boroughs of New York City, as well as Jersey City and Hoboken, from the 1600s to the present.
For each church he gives year founded, location(s), whereabouts of records, and in the case of Protestant churches, names of pastors. NYG&B members receive a $5 discount (make sure to log in to your NYG&B account to receive this discount).
