Searching for Father of Adaliza NEWCOMB

Genealogical Inquiries

Looking for any information or leads that will help me to identify Mr. NEWCOMB who was married to Amanda MILLER born in Connecticut (possibly Tolland, CT, or nearby Granville, MA) about 1809. Their daughter Adaliza Jane (aka Jane, Eliza) was born in New York 29 October 1835 according to record of her marriage to Ezra VAN CAMP in Lexington, Sanilac, MI, in January 1852. Adaliza and Ezra were my husband's 2G grandparents.

Mr. NEWCOMB probably died sometime between 1835 and 1850 by when Amanda was living in Porter, Niagara, NY with husband James L. McGrath, her mother Isabel MILLER (born Connecticut abt 1780), daughter Eliza (identified as Eliza McGrath), and Mr. McGrath's parents. Amanda is not listed in Sanilac County Death Index, 1867-1930, FHL Film #979461 or GENDIS, the Michigan Department of Community Health’s index of deaths from 1867 to 1897 but according to local history records, she was reportedly the first person buried in the Croswell, MI, Cemetery. I have searched Connecticut and New York birth, marriage, and death records for NEWCOMB-MILLER records and not found any matches. Adaliza died in Fremont Township, Sanilac in July 1910. Unfortunately, neither her death records nor an obit from the local newspaper identify her father. I searched John Bearse Newcomb's Genealogical Memoir of the Newcomb Family and didn't find any matches. I have also been unable to find any connections to NEWCOMB families living in Sanilac County or Niagara County.

Comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
