Birth Certificate Information, Kings County

I am trying to determine my Great Aunt's maiden name to further research her and her family. The only record I have come across which will provide this is her son's birth certificate number. He was born in 1926, so a digitized record is not available for access and I cannot provide proof of the son's death which is required by the NYC DOH to order the cert.. Does anyone know of a resource that the public can access which provides the information included on a birth certificate? The family members have fairly common names (Parents - Edward and Sarah Bennett / Son - Joseph ) which makes the search fairly difficult. Thank you for your help!
