Entry locations in New York State when folks were entering from Canada

Hi: I have Sottish relatives who emigrated to the US (New York State) from Ontario, Canada, around 1880 and another from Ireland around 1860, that may have come through Canada first.
1) What ports in New York State shores were most likely spots for those immigrants to enter into the US as immigrants? They all settled in central NYS (Wayne County). I have documentation that the Scots were near Dalahousie/Glenelg, Ontario, near Quebec, and am only guessing on the Irish ancestor.
2) Is there a good resource for passenger lists for NYC from Ireland?
