[F07] Dutch Reformed Church Records
Use this thread to discuss Dutch Reformed Church Records, presented by John Boeren, LLM, PLCGS.
Session Description
The Dutch Reformed Church - formerly Nederduits Gereformeerde kerk – had a special place in Dutch society in the 17th and 18th centuries. The church records provide insight into the lives of our ancestors, but most importantly help us understand who was who and what happened to whom. These sources play a major role in research into 17th century immigrants in particular.

Welcome!
Hello all,
Thank you for your interest in my presentation.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Kind regards,
John
Any chance to watch again?
I missed the livestream of this today! Any way to watch at a later time? I fear this is one of the sessions that was only livestream or in person. I have many Dutch ancestors from NYC/New Amsterdam - Hoppers, Strykers, Van Alsts. So sorry I missed the livestream...

Livestream
Hi Anne, I was told that the livestream sessions will be available on-demand. So, perhaps you need to wait a few days before it shows up? Feel free to reach out if you have specific questions about a family. My email address is in the syllabus.

NY Dutch ancestors
I also am looking for Dutch records, on my Spears/Spiers line.
Marian Elizabeth Spiers/Spears b. 1835
to - Percy Spiers/Spears and Margaret Woods/Wouda, my 3rd great grandparents…beginning in Westchester County/White Plains where they were dairy farmers… and going back in time.
I found your ‘on-demand’ presentation to be very useful.
Question:
I do find a few Dutch Reformed Records online in Ancestry …
Is there a list of Dutch New York/Amsterdam churches which were in New York back then?

@ jessica@denning... - I'd recommend Sue Miller's presentation (and handout) on NY religious records on Ancestry; she also discusses where to look elsewhere for records. The NY Guide & Gazetteer is also a must-see.
