MOCA staff will also talk about the process of repairing the artifacts that survived the 2021 fire at 70 Mulberry Street, the location where the MOCA collections used to be housed. About the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA)

MOCA logo

Since its founding in 1980, MOCA has celebrated the living history of the Chinese experience in America by preserving and presenting the 200-year history, heritage, culture, and diverse experiences of American communities of Chinese descent. Founded as a community-based organization, MOCA has over a period of four decades maintained its community centrality, while gaining a national following of visitors and members. The museum strives to be responsible to the moment; tell nuanced and unexpected stories; spotlight politically conscious issues; and provide a platform for open dialogue and dynamic programs. MOCA contributes to a fuller and more nuanced and layered American narrative by highlighting the stories of this immigrant community.

MOCA has a growing collection of more than 85,000 artifacts and ephemera that document the Chinese American diaspora, including audio/visual recordings, books, documents, oral histories, photographs, textiles, and more dating back to the early 1900s.
