Join the NYG&B and a community of dedicated researchers for an immersive, four-day research tour at premier institutions in Washington, D.C.: the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Library, and the Library of Congress.

This exclusive experience offers guided access to a wealth of federal land and military records, including pension files, bounty land warrants, manuscript and map collections, and many other invaluable resources. Before arriving, participants will benefit from a pre-tour orientation to maximize their research success  as well as one-on-one consultations with expert genealogists to address individual research questions and strategies.

Program Schedule (Subject to change)

September 2025

  • Overview and Q&A Session, held online via Zoom and recorded for those unable to participate (date and time TBD). Advanced consultation with the NYG&B (scheduled at a mutually agreeable time).

October 5, 2025

  • Arrive in Washington, D.C.

October 6–9, 2025

  • Individual and guided research at the NARA, the DAR Library, and the Library of Congress
  • Social activities with expert genealogists and fellow participants

Washington, D.C. Genealogy Resources

Resources at NARA include:

  • Military records, including compiled service, pension applications and payments, and bounty land warrant application files relate to claims based on wartime service
  • American Indian records
  • Vessel and station log books
  • Court records, including civil, criminal, and other Federal court-related records

Resources at the DAR Library include:

  • Revolutionary War ancestor records and a descendants database to help those looking for a DAR patriot or lineage
  • Previously verified DAR membership and supplemental applications with genealogical information
  • American Indian materials
  • Manuscripts collection comprising materials related to genealogy, family history, and American history, including family Bibles with family records documenting births, deaths, and marriages.

Resources at the Library of Congress include:

  • African American family histories and genealogies
  • Church and synagogue records
  • Military service and unit records
  • Newspaper collections, including microfilm, print, and digital

Registration includes the program at NARA, the DAR Library, and the Library of Congress and consultations (transportation and accommodations are not included).
