The Holland Society of New York's quarterly journal, de Halve Maen (1922- ), is a valuable source for genealogical and historical articles on early Dutch New York and its families. The Holland Society has issued two subject indexes to its publications, one for 1885-1959, the other for 1885-1977. In addition, an every-name index to de Halve Maen for 1977-1989 is expected to be published in 1992. De Halve Maen is not included in standard indexes to genealogical periodicals such as Genealogical Periodical Annual Index (GPAI), Jacobus' Index to Genealogical Periodicals, and Colket's Founders of Early American Families. It is included in the current volumes of Periodical Source Index (PERSI), but has not yet been indexed in the historical volumes.
Given below is a list of the most useful genealogical articles on specific families that have appeared in de Halve Maen to date. Certain articles have been omitted because they were incorporated into a subsequent book. Nevertheless, all articles through 1989 can be found using the Holland Society indexes described above.
Equally as important as the articles listed below are many of the articles that have appeared in de Halve Maen on historical or general genealogical subjects. Among these are the following articles, all by well-known authors:

Anyone interested in Dutch New York would be well advised to browse through all issues since volume 18:3 (1943) when de Halve Maen assumed its present format.
