Researched and compiled by William Heard Kilpatrick, this text was released by the United States Bureau of Education in Bulletin 1912, No. 12. It surveys the various schools establish by Dutch colonists in New Netherland beginning in the early 17th century and concluding with the advent of the American Revolution. The text is broken into fifteen chapters, most of which focus on a particular school (organized by location) or body of instructors.
