This collection was preserved and made accessible online through the NYG&B's Digitize New York initiative.
The Immanuel Lutheran Church collection consists of digitized bound register volumes organized by year for New York City's Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 122 East 88th Street since 1886. Established in 1863 by German immigrants, the Immanuel Lutheran church served a predominantly German population throughout the 19th century. As such, these records containing lists of church members, baptisms, confirmations, communicants, and deaths were recorded in the German language. The earliest records are from 1866, just three years after the establishment of the congregation and decades before the building that stands today on the Upper East Side of Manhattan was erected.
Online releases for this collection are ongoing.
