To help preserve at-risk historical records and improve access for people conducting New York family history research, the NYG&B launched the Digitize New York initiative in 2023. Through this initiative, the NYG&B is partnering with historical societies, churches, town hall offices, cemeteries, and other organizations as well as researchers across New York State to digitize these records and make them available online.

Join Jen Davis, NYG&B’s Vice President, Advancement and Membership; Kalyn Loewer, NYG&B’s Digitial Collections Manager; and Ruth Huggler, NYG&B member and volunteer, to learn more about an exciting and productive partnership that kicked off our Digitize New York efforts at our Central New York Digitization Center in Syracuse, which became fully operational in August 2024. They will share more about Ruth’s collaboration with the NYG&B to digitally preserve records from the Sullivan County Historical Society, Basket Historical Society, and Town of Fremont. These materials include tax assessment records, town and city records, church records, court records, and even an 1845 agricultural census.
