This lecture provides a case study in how to use DNA analysis, coupled with traditional genealogical research, to find the ancestral village of Daniel McCormick. Daniel was an Irish Famine immigrant into New York City and he and his family lived in Flushing, New York, for many years.
About the Presenter
Janet Hall Werner grew up in Western New York and received her B.A. in Political Science from SUNY Fredonia. After college, Janet moved to the Washington, D.C., area to work on Capitol Hill. She then obtained a law degree from the University of Virginia and worked in government relations in Washington, D.C., for 25 years. About seven years ago, Janet became a professional genealogist. She is a graduate of ProGen and has attended several institutes at GRIP and SLIG. She is on the board of the Fairfax (VA) Genealogical Society (FxGS) and leads FxGS’s Genetic Genealogy (DNA) SIG.
