This presentation, recorded November 17, 2020, celebrated the launch of the new online database, “Voyages of New Netherland,” a searchable, primary source-based directory of more than 300 ship voyages to New Netherland (1609–1664).

The session featured an introduction by the project developer, Julie van den Hout, followed by a discussion with Charles Gehring of the New Netherland Research Center and Stephen McErleane of the New Netherland Institute.

Watch to learn how the database will aid future research on New Netherland and also how viewing New Netherland through the stories of these ships adds a new dimension to our understanding of the colony.
