Marriage records Dutchess County New York 1820s

I am looking for the first wife of Morgan L. Sabin (1803-1851). Morgan and his first wife had a daughter Mary Ann Sabin born in 1826. Morgan moved to Clinton, Ohio I am assuming after the death of this wife. He remarried in Ohio to Nancy Gallagher. Mary Ann Sabin is mentioned in Morgan's will. Mary Ann married David Jones in Butler Ohio.

Henrietta Merritt m. 1828 John H. Fraser

I'm looking for the parents of Henrietta MERRITT. She married John H. FRASER in 1828. Based on her age in census records, she could have been born anywhere between 1795 and 1814 (I suspect that's a bit late, given that she married in 1828).

Their children were John jr (d. as infant), Alfred W., Sarah Jane, Edwin, Charles, and Henrietta.

She is buried in Trinity Church Cemetery on 155th & Riverside. Her cemetery information is as follows:

The history of the Chambers family of Niagara Falls, Canada

Hi! Does anyone here have a copy of this book?

The history of the Chambers family of Niagara Falls, Canada : a Mayflower family : including genealogies of related families, James Slaght (Slecht), Nicholas Outhouse (Van Uythuysen), James Smith, James Boyd / researched by Queen M. Perry.

If so, would you be willing to look up Nicholas Outhouse and see if there is information in the book about his son Nicholas? I am hitting dead ends everywhere. Thanks in advance!

NYC Immigration

Hi,

So, several questions:

1. My great great grand father (Johannes Igantz Umscheid) arrived in NYC on 13 June 1843 from Bremen, Germany. The question is, did he go through some immigration station like Castle Garden and Ellis Island because neither of them were operational at the time?

2. Does anyone know anything about the people who lived where Central Park was built? I am told Johannes lived there before being kicked out to make the park.

Thanks in advance...
Kurt Umscheid

Heffernan help/New York Catholic Protectory

Hello,

I am a new member and kind of a newbie. I am trying to find information for my Heffernan ancestors.

My great-grandfather is Lawrence Heffernan DOB: Sept 1, 1906. I found him in the 1940 and 1930 US Census with his wife Anna and child(ren) Lawrence Jr, Rose (my grandmother), Catherine, and Anna May. He listed his parent's names as John Heffernan & Margaret Dignan on his marriage certificate (#31717) in 1927. I believe his father is sometimes listed as John and sometimes as Joseph.

Susie Gifford (1842-1896) parentage

Susie J Gifford and Mary Gifford are listed in the 1860 census in the household of Jediah Gifford, Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County, NY. Also listed in this census is Jediah's new 24 year old wife, Mary Grennell Barker and their son, Albert. I have found no evidence of a previous marriage, but when Susie was married, she was named in the newspaper as the daughter of Jediah Gifford of Schaghticoke. In his last will and testament, 1892, Jediah recognizes only wife Mary and her children. Any ideas for where to search?

Obit

I am looking for obit or death information on my late Uncle’s mother. Her name was Mary Sanders and died around 1929-1930 when my Uncle was 2 years old. Her husband was Horace Sanders and they lived in Newburgh. I know that Horace died in 1972 in Newburgh. I did send for my Uncle’s birth record, but I guess it takes quite a few months to get it. My Uncle went to live with his Aunt and Uncle in Wisconsin after the death of his mother.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thank you,
Dawn

Prohibition Court Records

I am following up on a Brooklyn newspaper article published in 1923 about a pharmacist who had been brought before Federal Commissioner Hitchcock and accused of possession of counterfeit tax stamps, labels, and doctor's certificates for liquor. From my research, Commissioner Samuel Hitchcock of the Southern District of New York was primarily focused on Prohibition cases at the time. I want to get the court records for this case as well as related prison records.
