Zephaniah Tidd/Teed 1763-1838

Looking for Zeph's ancestors.  Think it was Benjamin Tidd who had a house in Salt Point in 1764.  Zeph was in Coxsackie 1790, moved on to Cairo and died in Delaware County.

Onondaga County Birth certificate court order?

Hello,

With the help of NYG&B I was able to track down all the information for a recent ancestor that I needed, but was told in order to get a certified birth certificate I would need a court order because I am not the person listed on the certificate, or a parent of the person listed on the certificate.

Does anyone have experience on what to do in cases like this?

What is the procedure to follow, and are there any petition forms that are accessible to the public, or does anyone know a lawyer with experience in this very niche area?

Regards,

Kane Family

My family lived in Westchester County (Rye, Portchester, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, New Rochelle) over the years.  I have found a lot of information on various members of the family from 1880 on.

I cannot find the link back to Ireland for John and Mary Kane who apparently settled in Rye Neck in 1825.  I believe that they were married in Ireland.

Schmidt family NYC ca. 1851-1854

Seeking advice for finding the few records a German Lutheran family may have left in NYC in the short time they resided there, probably about 1851 to 1854. The family came in two waves, the first about 1851 and the second arriving 14 May 1852. Although they only stayed in NYC for 3-4 years before moving west to Illinois, the following events are said to have occurred there:

The Homan Family

I am specifically searching for Gilbert Homan and his wife Sarah Downs.  Daniel Homan was their son 1815-1903, of Patchogue, Long Island, he married Elizabeth Gerard,1822-1870.  Her father, Mr Gerad, unknown given name, married Susannah Smith.  My search leads me to no end.

The other search that I am at a brick wall is with Mary J. Carman and Charles Preston, the parents of Mary Jane Preston-Homan-Warner.

Charles Henry Culver's father and mother

I am searching for the names of Charles Henry Culver's parents.  Charles Henry was born in Waterloo, Seneca County,  N.Y. between 1820 and 1825.

Charles Henry married Harriet Newberry, and to my knowledge lived in New York state all his life.  Harriet died in 1900 in Rochester, N.Y. and Charles Henry died in 1901 in Phelps, N.Y.  He was living with his daughter, Mrs. Sidney Condit at the time of his death.

Any information on Charles Henry Culver and Harriet Newberry Culver would be greatly appreciated.

Seeking Parents and Siblings Elizabeth "Libbie" OWEN of Orange County, NY (1860-1943)

Seeking parents and siblings of Elizabeth "Libbie" OWEN born 5 June 1860 possibly in Orange County, New York. She moved to Colorado about 1880 and married George A THOMPSON about 1881 in Colorado. They had two children: 1) Florence Jo born 1883 in Bonanza, Saguache, Colorado who married Charles Eber BONNETT and 2) George M born 1887 in Colorado who never married and who died 1906 in Colorado. Possibly had a cousin or other relative named Merton J OWEN, who story has it traveled with Libbie to Colorado. He was born about 1862 and died about 1887 in Colorado.

David Pell of Brooklyn, NY 1795(?)-1854

My 3rd great grandfather was David Pell of Brooklyn, NY; I know he was born between 1790 and 1800 and his body was interred at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn in 1854 although I'm pretty sure that's not when he died. He was a ferry boat captain there in Brooklyn for about twenty years if not more. His wife was named Sarah but I have no clue what her maiden name was. Is anyone familiar with the records in Brooklyn, NY?? Is their system good? Are there many records there that are not available online?

Ryer/Ryerson/Rijer

Looking for ancestors of William Ryer, b. abt. 1762, d. 1841. His later years were spent in Newark and he died in Manhattan leaving a will. He was survived by his wife, Mary (prob. Morris.) He is almost certainly the William Ryer who appears in the 1800 census of New York's 6th ward, and the 1810 census of Eastchester, based on age categories of the household at the time.
